Lee D. Lane of Lane Studio is a Laramie, Wyoming based artist who primarily uses water mixable oils to create original artwork and paintings of local landscapes that will be on display and for sale at the 6th Biennial Touchstone Laramie Art Exhibition hosted by the Laramie Artists Project.
Lee uses quick strokes of the brush and lets the brush be the brush. He allows his inner self to appear in the brushwork. Interpreting the color, form, and texture of his surroundings, and adding light to create value, Lee allows a varied application in oil to each subject. He uses loose brushwork to reflect his inner being in the surface applications of the paint. His goal is to be one, with the brush. To be one, with the paint. To be one, with the support. Lee's work is rooted in the idea of transferring his inner being into the work of art. He believes that depicting each subject can be from a realistic approach to a fracturing of the subject into geometric-like forms, to confuse the idea of negative and positive space.
