John D. Baker of Raven Studio Arts is a Laramie, Wyoming based artist who uses painting, drawing, and sculpture to create original artwork of local landscapes that will be on display and for sale at the 6th Biennial Touchstone Laramie Art Exhibition hosted by the Laramie Artists Project.
For all of John's creative life as a painter, he has been fascinated by color interaction, by the relationship of shape(s), and by the investment and translation of applied energy on a paintings surface. He has found that the landscape genre allows him to move between these more abstract principals and the imagery of things and places that people can relate to, that somehow look and feel familiar. The natural world informs his work. John loves it when he feels he has captured something energetic and ephemeral in his paintings. He tries to allow the viewer to consider what they are seeing in ways that they may not have seen them before.
You can see more of John D. Baker's work at The Jeweler in historic downtown Laramie, Wyoming as well as at Deselms Gallery and Framing in Cheyenne, Wyoming.
This is John's 3rd time exhibiting at Touchstone Laramie and his 5th year as part of the Laramie Artists Project. This year he will exhibiting new original paintings, drawing, and sculptures for the 6th Biennial Touchstone Laramie Art Exhibition on November 10th and 11th, 2018 at the Fairfield Inn and Suites in Laramie, Wyoming.
