Joe P. Arnold is a Laramie, Wyoming based artist who uses oil, pastel, pencil to create original artwork that will be on display and for sale at the 6th Biennial Touchstone Laramie Art Exhibition hosted by the Laramie Artists Project.
Over the past 30 years Joe has taken the mountaineer’s view as my subject. He has always been drawn to the vast, the epic, and the untrammelled, an impulse he shares with the Romantic and the Hudson Bay artists. He try to achieve the scale and space of the subject while maintaining a design that woks flat, and a lively brushwork that is derived from numerous plein-air studies he's done on location. In the work selected here, large studio pieces and smaller studies, there is a variety of treatments in composition, light, color and viewpoint.
You can see more of Joe Arnold's work online at www.joearnoldstudios.com or at Harvey Deselms Gallery in Cheyenne, Wyoming.
